As one of the most foundational instruments of acting, from the teachings of Stanislavski all the way to the most modern schools of theater, the body has always been playing a crucial role in the creation of essence and the transmission of concepts. Through the process of reification, an actor's body transforms into an element which is beyond mere physique; one which demonstrates deeper layers of character and essence, and plays a fundamental role in adding depth and immersiveness to a performance. The manner of reflection of concepts such as violence in theater with a focus on the active aspects, and the motional and behavioral possibilities of the actor, is the presented question here which based on studying the theories of Erich Fromm concerning the manifestations of the images of violence, and also relying on doucumentative and academic sources, leads this qualitative yet practical research towards the analysis of the works of Reza Abdoh as one of the most distinctive contemporary Iranian artists. He who is known for his tendency to the experimental and the unconventional, and for his focus on controversial topics such as violence, identity and human experience; on which he often bases the foundations of his works. The analysis of the The Law of Remains play shows that by using performative, reactive, retaliatory and vampirical violence based on Erich Fromm's theory, Abdoh takes advantage of a combination of body, object and body as an object to create a sensorial and physical experience for the audience; giving a new meaning to the reification of body in theater. By using radical mise en scènes, he elevates the body beyond a performative tool and transforms it into the main active party in violence. This research not only emphasizes on the innovative and artistic aspects of Abdoh's works, but also as a part of the global theater discourse, it presents inspirational suggestions regarding the revision and reassessment of the roles of the body and the elements on the scene in contemporary theater.
